Training

Yoga Teacher Training & Deepening

On January 15, 2027, Art of Stillness will launch its first yoga teacher training.

Over seven months and 250 hours, we will immerse ourselves in yoga as a physical practice, philosophy, and way of life. Through regular practice, you will build strength, stability, mobility, and flexibility while deepening your understanding of meditation, breathwork, and the wisdom traditions of yoga.

The training is intended for both those who wish to teach and those who want to give yoga a greater place in their own lives. You do not need to be flexible, be able to do handstands, or aim to become a yoga teacher to attend the training. All that is truly needed is curiosity and a willingness to dedicate time to practice and reflection. For practice is the key that unlocks the door to the beautiful landscape of yoga.

So, for some, the training will be the beginning of a life as a yoga teacher. For others, it will primarily be an opportunity to deepen their own practice and give yoga a greater place in their daily lives. Both paths are equally valuable.

About the training

A training to grow in

On 15 January 2027, Art of Stillness begins its first yoga teacher training. Over seven months and 250 hours we go deeper into yoga as physical practice, philosophy and way of life. Through regular practice you build strength, stability, mobility and suppleness, while deepening your understanding of meditation, breathing and the wisdom traditions of yoga.

The main teaching takes place at the Art of Stillness studio in Stockholm. All modules can also be followed online. As a participant you become part of Art of Stillness — a context for practice, study and community. Throughout the training we meet regularly to practise, talk and go deeper together. It is my hope that the training will give you not only knowledge and experience, but also a place to return to long after it ends.

The training is for you who want to teach, and equally for you who simply want to give yoga a larger place in your own life. You do not need to be flexible, be able to stand on your hands, or aim to become a yoga teacher. All that is really needed is curiosity and a willingness to set aside time for practice and reflection. Practice is the key that opens the door to the beautiful landscape of yoga.

For some, the training becomes the beginning of a life as a yoga teacher. For others it is above all a chance to deepen their own practice and give yoga more room in everyday life. Both paths are equally valuable.

The aim is not to become someone else, but to get to know yourself a little better, step by step. For many that means a stronger, more supple body. For others a calmer nervous system, a greater capacity for attention and a clearer sense of direction in life. Most often all of this develops at once. The physical postures of yoga, and how they can be put together in different sequences, matter greatly and have meant an enormous amount to me — but yoga is also about much more. It is about how we meet ourselves, and also how we meet other people and life as a whole.

Perhaps most important of all, though, is the community that grows along the way. Yoga has always been passed on between people. The tradition lives on through relationships, conversations and shared practice. The training is therefore not only a place for learning but a context to grow in — a group of people who meet regularly, share experiences, support one another and together explore what it means to live yoga in practice.

The world needs more people who practise yoga deeply, and more who pass it on with knowledge, humility and care. At its heart, yoga is about our relationship to ourselves and to others. About developing greater presence, clarity and compassion. Compassion for oneself. Compassion for others.

Content

How the training is built

The training follows a clear path, step by step. Each part rests on the one before — and each part gives you something you can carry with you straight away, both into your own practice and into the room where you will one day guide others.

  1. AUM
    Sound, mantra and philosophy

The sound that, according to the Indian wisdom traditions, permeates all existence. Here we study mantra, japa, basic Sanskrit, meditation and the philosophical roots of yoga.

  2. ASANA
    The physical practice of yoga

We go deeper into anatomy, alignment, strength, mobility and sequencing. You are given tools to build well-considered classes and develop the ability to teach with clarity and presence. The sequences are based on the principles of hatha yoga, which form the foundation of both ashtanga and modern vinyasa yoga.

  3. ABHYĀSA
    The practice and the discipline

The practice, the discipline and the returning. Here we explore how regular training shapes both body and mind, and how a sustainable yoga practice develops over time.

  4. AHIMSĀ
    Compassion in practice

We study the ethical foundation of yoga and how kindness, presence and respect can permeate both teaching and everyday life.

  5. ADHYĀTMA
    The inner life

Through meditation, self-reflection and the study of yoga's wisdom traditions we explore questions of meaning, freedom and self-knowledge.

After the training

This is what you take with you

This isn't a training you finish. What you carry away is a practice, a craft and a community that keeps growing long after the final weekend.

  • A stronger body

Strength, stability, mobility and suppleness through regular practice.

  • A calmer nervous system

A greater capacity for attention and recovery.

  • A clearer direction

Qualities that reach far beyond the yoga mat.

  • A community

A group that meets regularly, shares experience and supports one another.
